When using a computer in a Windows 10 + SSD environment, it is often reported that the PC is suddenly stopping once in a while, causing so-called freezing symptoms. Very annoying. But I have actually posted about it in the last time. So, before you try this method, it is highly recommended to take a look at the past article first and apply it.

For reference, I am using a system with AMD A10 8700P Carrizo APU and R5 M330 external graphics (called R6 M340DX with a combination of integrated R6 graphics and an external R5 M330). However, there has been intermittent freezing on the System.

What are the symptoms?

For example, if you are running a game, the computer suddenly stops and plays the sound only, or the screen stops and comes back after a while. I was very annoyed.

Especially when I play a game that runs at high speed like Overwatch or Diablo, it is really fatal when freezing occurs.

The solution for AMD User

Note: If you are using an Intel CPU-based system, please skip this step. The solution for Intel users is below.

The solution for AMD CPU or AMD APU users is to update the 'AMD chipset driver' to the latest version first. This is quite different from the Radeon graphic driver. The latest chipset drivers are available for download via the link below.

If you take the link above, you can download 'chipset driver'. You can go to the link to download the file and proceed with the installation. Reboot is a must! However, there are some cases that can not be solved in this way. This is caused by the fact that the SATA driver is not properly updated. In this case, proceed as follows.

Right-click 'Windows Logo' (Start button) at the bottom left of the screen and open 'Control Panel'.

Then go to 'Device Manager' under 'Hardware and Sound'.

Here you select the IDE ATA / ATAPI controller section and open the submenu. (This may not be the AMD SATA Controller, as shown in the screenshot.) Right-click here and select Update Driver Software. Select 'Browse my computer for driver software'.

Then select the location of the chipset driver you just installed. By default:


Select here and proceed with the installation. And reboot! Now the freezing is over! Pretty easy, huh?

The solution for Intel User

For Intel users it's a bit more simple. If you have constantly freezing with all of the suggestions in the last article, it is widely believed that Intel users can solve the problem by installing Rapid Storage Technology (RST).

Select the appropriate Intel Rapid Storage Technology for your system from the above page, and install and reboot, and the problem will be resolved neatly.
